Question
I'd like some help with this problem please.
Give the domain of the function f(x)=1 over the square root of 1 minus x squared. Thanks so much.

Answer
f(x) = 1/(sqrt(1 - x^2))

same as

y = 1/(sqrt(-x^2 + 1))

-x^2 + 1 = 0
-x^2 = -1
x^2 = 1
x = ±1

x ‡ ±1

so x does not equal -1 or +1

if you go to www.quickmath.com, click on Plot which is located under Equations, then click on advanced, then type in y = 1/(sqrt(-(x^2) + 1)) in the first box, then type in y = 1/(-sqrt(-(x^2) + 1)) in the second box, and clear out the rest, and make sure that Tick Marks and Grid Lines, and that the margins are set as
-10,10
-10,10
click enter, and you will get all that you want. The domain will still be -1 < x < 1
