Question
I know the length, in inches, of one side of a right triangle. 20".
How do I figure out the lenght, in inches, of the other two sides. It
it is a right triangle.

Answer
a^2 + b^2 = c^2

Isosceles

20^2 + 20^2 = c^2
400 + 400 = c^2
800 = c^2
c = 20sqrt(2) inches

Isoceles

a^2 + b^2 = 20^2
a = b
a^2 + a^2 = 400
2a^2 = 400
a^2 = 200
a = 10sqrt(2) inches
