Question
im supposed to be tutoring a student in calc.4,and i want to make sure

how to find general soln of:

y"-2y'-3y=e^t+1

using undetermined coefficients

thanks

Answer
what do you mean by " and '

by this do you mean

y^3 - 2y^2 - 3y

and by e^t + 1, do you mean e^(t + 1) or (e^t) + 1

so by this do you mean

y^3 - 2y^2 - 3y = (e^t) + 1
or
y^3 - 2y^2 - 3y = e^(t + 1)

I might be able to help, if you can help me understand what you mean.
