Expert: Jan Eskes Date: 6/30/2007 Subject: Problem installing Morrowind GOTY
Question This problem is very annoying.
I've just bought a brand new game - Morrowind game of the year edition and i can't even install it.
I put the disk in, it reads it fine, it runs the "auto start" function of the disk and brings up the new screen with the threee versions of morrowind (morrwind, tribunal and bloodmoon) saying that first i have to install morrowind, then tribunal, then bloodmoon.
I click to install Morrowind and it starts the installation progress (asks where to install, if i agree to user agreement etc...) but as soon as it starts copying files it stops at 2% and pops up this error message:
My computer exceeds the reccomended requirements and I have tried many things to fix this but all to no avail.
The account I'm installing it on is an administrator, i've tried it on my account and on my brothers acc (both administrators) and i've even made a new acc to install it on but that didn't work either and it ALWAYS does the exact same thing (stops at 2%).
I have upgraded to directx 8.1 (the one on the cd) still the same problem.
I have copied the entire contents of the cd to my hardrive then tried to install it from that and it does the same thing.
Please help me, i've read over the internet and found only 1 other person who had the exact same problem as i have but didn't find a valid solution for it (this is my last chance to play Morrowind... it's all up to you, please).
Answer Jack,
Sometimes it's just a glitch at installation. Before you try to reinstall, you will need to totally uninstall ALL programs Morrowind has downloaded. Go to your Control Panel, click on Add Remove Programs, find the Morrowind and uninstall. Then check your C: drive to make sure ALL folders are deleted. Shut your computer down and restart. Turn of any Virus programs you may have running and try to reinstall Morrowind. It is VERY important that you make sure before you reinstall that you have removed all of the previous Morrowind programs.
Good luck, I'm sure you will enjoy the game, it's one of my favorites.
