Question
Dear Jan,
I am having major difficulties with KQ7.  I recently purchased the disk (the first version, from what I've been told--Rosella and Valanice swirling down into a ominous orange vortex), but there are troubles.
I use Windows ME.  I have plenty of RAM, plenty of disk space, great processor.  No color conflicts.

1.  I receive the message "Could not copy SIERRA.INF.  Make sure destination drive is not write-protected".  I haven't changed anything, so why would it be write-protected...

2. After installation, I double-click on the icon; a black window opens and I receive "Windows Title Not Found".  Sometimes the black window opens and Windows just locks up (can't even Control Alt Delete to restart).

3. Sometimes I receive the message "Undefined Internal Error".

Now, I've already tried a few things.  This is what I've tried:

1. Changing the RESOURCE.WIN file, adding what I was told to add (a bunch of technical stuff that a tech told me to add).  That was for my first installation--now I can't change the .WIN file, because it says "Choose Which Program To Open RESOURCE.WIN", so I can't even open it.

2.  Going to Properties from the Sierraws icon.  Changing the command line as per this tech's instructions.  Still no dice.

I'm really at a loss here.  I'm beginning to think I should just give up on this whole thing, because it seems impossible.  Unless you can offer some great advice...

Please respond with SIMPLE terms and instructions that are EASY to follow...I know how to use Windows, but when it comes to technical things I am horribly lost.

I normally wouldn't care about this so much, but it's the only one I haven't won and it IRKS me! Plus I spent twenty bucks, I'd at least like to play it.

Thanks, Jan.  Hope to hear from you soon.

Answer
Rob,
Totally remove ALL Sierra files from your computer using the unistall programs tool. Then check your computer to make sure that all the files have been removed. If you find some delete them.
Next, shut your computer down and then restart.
Insert the CD and choose SETUP.EXE from the cd the program should then choose the best paths for the game (notice I said should). Hopefully it was just a clitch when you first installed the game and this will clear it up, but its VERY important that you remove all of the sierra files or you'll just be in the same fix again. If this doesn't fix it you may have a bad cd. Did you go to Sierra.com for tech support? They have a community bulletin board that is awesome. I hope this helps Rod, good luck. The games a good one and I hope you'll be able to play it.

Jan
