Question
I know you don't mention compatibility issues as an area of expertise, but you say you have played many adventure games so I thought I would try you anyway.

Is it generally true that any adventure, or other pc game that came out before the advent of Windows XP will not play on XP, such as dos-based games, or those that specify Windows 95 or 98 on the box?

Thanks

Answer
Hi Les,

Not necessarily, however your PC may be "too good" for some of the old games.

Microsoft has a great XP Game Advisor tool to check the compatibility of your PC with most games.  Copy & paste the link below...

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/games/gameadvisor/default.mspx

It's usually accurate (not always 100% unfortunately).  XP also comes with a compatibility mode that can help you play many older games.  The Microsoft web-site can also teach you about that.  Just do a search on it.

Happy Holidays!
Meg
