Advertising/Two campaign executions

Question
I happen to have two different spec campaigns written for the same product.  I really like both of them a lot.  Is it ever OK to put both in my book?  Or is that bad form?  Could I put one full campaign in my portfolio and use one ad from the other campaign as a one-off?

Thank you!!

Answer
Hi, Montana

If you're a student, or younger professional, who hasn't had the years in the business to develop real work, I don't see a problem with this.

Your portfolio should show how you think and what you COULD come up with. I would only caution that you should make sure that both of your campaigns are consistent with the brand. You don't want to create the impression in your book that you don't understand the proper tone for the product you've chosen.

If they're both brand appropriate, and both belong in an award-show program guide, then I think you're safe including them.

PS - Go easy on the "one-off's." Today's CDs want to see how you integrate your campaign ideas across multiple media channels, sales promotion, collateral, electronic, etc. (with an emphasis on strong understanding of the digital world).
