Question
Would it be a good decision to change the profession with 4 years of experience in other field [software].
I consider this a creative field, and I am very much interested.

What would you suggest?

Regards,
-Rashmi

Answer
Rashmi,

All fields are creative if you think of it. It is what does it for you. If you are unhappy about what you are doing, don't get sucked in by the money… make a change. Small change however can make a big difference.

In my humble opinion, and I know nothing of your qualifications. Use your career to help you get the most out of life. Advertising, graphic design, sales promotion, public relation, corporate communications are all serious businesses and people are sometimes lured away from other occupations because they see these careers as glamorous. They are if you make them that way but don't always have to be in fact some are an absolute grind.

I can only leave you with this. Visit some advertising agencies, graphic design agencies and even some Public relations agencies and determine if this is the environment that you can excel at. Ask the HR people there if they would look at your resume and determine if you have the skills to fit in. I would look for firms that deal with business to business or hi technology to fit with your current skill set - this way you can of great value to the agency.

Please let me know of your decision and what you have done about it.

Pete
