Question
Mr. Gabany,
Hi, I was wondering what you thought a student should do with their portfolio book in terms of layout.  Like, should I include creative briefs, and dividers between the different campaigns?
Thanks
Peter

Answer
There is no set standard. Unconventional but accessible is best. Be innovative. Stay away from cliches or be VERY cliche to get attention and remain noticed. Do something different. A photographer in NY sent a bird and bird cage - all dressed (food, water and the like) and stated that all he wanted was an interview and to see his portfolio. reportedly he was granted 98% of the meetings requested. Not hearing from the the other 2% he sent a box of bird seed - he was granted the remaining meetings.
