Question
Hi Peter-
I'm a 10 year media planning vet experienced with all types of media, except interactive.  I've worked at the top agencies in NY on Fortune 500 accounts.  It's been great, but I've had enough. Other than sales, what are my career options?  I'm open to almost anything.

Thanks!
Lisa

Answer
Lisa,

Your options are endless - including living on a deserted island. But within the ad world why not principal? Why can't you find a great creative team, you're obviously a person with great organization skills - all you need is an entrepreneurial spirit and some cash reserves and an inkling of who needs better creative pared with phenomenal media expertise, an a creative team that thinks similarly.

Business ownership is NOT for the weak of heart – it takes talent, conviction, resourcefulness and a touch of luck.

But if this is not your cup of tea, how about consulting to agencies that require media talent from time to time – or obviously account management – but for me, I’d prefer media. You could employ your talents by moving to other than traditional media and working directly with media agents - like doubleclick or how about Google.

Then there is teaching.

Lisa, I don't know that this is at all inspiring or even covered something that you have not already considered, but if you require any additional suggestions or help, please don't hesitate to ask.

Pete
