Advertising/To Pitch an idea to a potential client

Question
I have several ideas for television commercials that I believe are worth a look at.  I do not work for any of the companies that these ideas are for.  Is there a process in which I might be able to get an audience with these companies to try to sell them my idea?

Thanks
Billy

Answer
Billy,

The truth, the honest truth is hard to swallow but the answer is no. Absolutely not otherwise you would be setting yourself up for disappointment. I could lie to you and develop a process to get an audience, but the fact of the matter is that the client will listen only to their agency and no agency will allow the client to know/believe that an idea came from an outside source.

There are a host of other reasons for this - some get into legal liability regarding unsolicited creative.

The best thing to do is hold on to these gems. If and when you get into the industry, use your creative genius to make the best kick-ass commercials on the planet.

I apologise for the negativity, but try it if you must. If approaching an agency don't be surprised to be read the policies regarding unsolicited work.

Regards,

Pete
