Question
Hi Peter,

I was wondering if you could help me? I am trying to work out how a commercials production company gets its work, i.e would Taco Bell approach the production company or would the production company approach Taco Bell, or is it done through agencies?

Thanks,

Danny

Answer
Danny,

Thank you for your question. Production companies typically work through and promote to agencies. The production house itself uses its director talent and their reels to reach out. Occassionally the director will meet with the client but this is rare - unless the production company is also the ad agency - and this although rare, does happen.

Are you trying to get more work and wish to contact clients direct? My advice to you is don't. Spend your effort working on getting agency attention through your reel. Don't be shy send it out of state, out of province, out of Country. If the reel is tight - you will get attention.

Feel free to ask more questions.

Pete
