Aerobics/skipping

Question
Hi Ken

At the moment I am jogging around 40-45 mins 2-3 times a week for cardio and to reduce my waist. Due to time factor and the weather, I would like to switch to skipping indoors.

How long should I skip to get the same cardio benefit and to reduce my waist? Is it true you only need to do 1/3 or something like that of the time spent in skipping which is equivalent of the jogging?

Also what is the best to reduce the waist and have a six pack?

Thank you.

Sincerely

Eddie

Answer
Hi,
If you skip at about the same intensity as you jog, you would do it for the same approximate amount of time.  If you exercise at a higher intensity with skipping, you wouldn't need to do it as long.  If you walk a slower pace, you might increase the duration.

How long you should skip to get the same cardio benefit would be the same approxiamate time you spend on any aerobic exercise.  To reduce the waist, it is a matter of burning calories while exercising, watching your nutrition, and building muscle.  Without seeing you or knowing anything about your past, I can't answer the question of how long your workout should be because that depends on the intensity you actually workout at.  Everyone has a six-pack.  It's a matter of whether you see it or not.  Developing a six-packl is a combination of low-body fat and strengthening your abdominal muscles.  If you're not sure what to do, work with a qualified personal traing in your area.  It's worth to at least get your started.

Hope this helps.
