Aerobics/Can I get more nimble

Question
Hi Ken
I am 50,in decent shape as I run a couple times a week and workout with weights.
I am overweight and carry a sizeable belly, although I think its hereditary as I am not a big eater.
Question:
Is it posible to do an exercise that will make me a bit more nimble and lighter on my feet?
I realise being lighter would help, and I am working on that.
My wife wants to take up dancing with me,and I have two left feet.
Also,I want to start coaching my gran children in indoor soccer and hockey this Fall, and I know you have to have strong nut also nimble legs for those sports.
Maybe I am too old,but if there is a will there is a way right?

Answer
I'm not quite sure what you mean by "nimble"...maybe quick or agile.  Without seeing you, I'm not able to decipher what you may need to be "lighter on your feet".  Certainly losing excess bodyfat helps. The only way to not have "two left feet" for dancing, is to dance and practice.  A lot of it, if it doesn't come easy or natural to you.  A conditioning program involving strength exercises and stretching exercises can help prepare you for sports like soccer and hockey.  You are never too old, so that isn't to be considered.  To consider though, is a slow progression so you can gain benefits safely without undue stress or injury.  Give yourself a generous timeframe, too.

Hope this helps.
