Question
Hello, I am trying to lose weight and have had a lot of luck with watching my caloric intake and using the elliptical along with some light weight training. I just recently found out that I have a problem with my right knee and will not be able to use the elliptical treadmill or bike for sometime. Also weight lifting with that leg is prohibited right now. Is there any other workouts that I can do that will give me the same burn that I get with the elliptical?

Answer
Without knowing what the problem is with your knee, it's hard to say. Without the normal function of your leg, it's not possible to do anything that would equal the energy demands of what you were able to do.  You have to try different activities to see if your knee can tolerate the demands asked of it.  Water exercise may be a good option since it's very low-impact.  Skating may be another choice.  If you're able to walk, do that.  Until your knee recovers, it will limit your choice of physical activity and/or the intensity of an activity.
Hope this helps, and hope you recovery quickly.
