Question
Hello sir

I am an overweight 20 year old, my BMI is 28.6, and I want to do more exercise, IE joining a gym. I was wondering what the chances are of sudden death are either during or shortly after exercise at a gym. I got checked over by my doctor, he found PVC's in my heart rhythm which he said are normal and lots of people have them.

What are you thoughts on sudden death during or after exercise?

thanks

Answer
Hi Ross,

After being checked out by your physician did they tell you not to exercise? If not, you should be able to exercise without restrictions. Most people who die during exercise have an underlying problem that contributes to their death. It's not the exercise alone that causes the issue. The benefits of exercise to an otherwise healthy overweight person far out weigh the risks. However, there are risks with any exercise program and you should consult your physician about exercise if you haven't already done so.
