Question
Hi
I have a treadmill and exercise bike and am looking for another less expensive piece of equipment for variety.
Are those plastic steps at all effective, and if so how would I use one?
I am not interested in watching a video, but watching the news or a TV show while I work out.
Thanks!

Answer
Hi Van-
I'm glad that you are seeking variety, and yes a step is a good investment.  There are a lot of exercises to do on the step, too many to name here but I'll name a few and give you a resource.  Assuming you don't have any knee or ankle problems, you could run up and down on the step, you could hop over the step, hop on the step, you could do squats, lunges, situps, pushups, planks and the list goes on.  There are also tons of step combinations you  could do, but I'm not sure if you could do them while watching TV.  Check out this website http://www.ehow.com/videos-on_2125_aerobic-steps-beginners.html  It is for step beginners.

I hope this helps, thanks for the question.
