Aerobics/Building up legs

Question
Hi Brandon-

I hope you can help.  I'm in good physical shape and exchanged my aerobics routine (1 hour 3-4 x a wk.), to dancing (to top VH1 dance music-like Gaga).  I usually dance a good 30-40 min. total). I've been doing this about 4 months. I also started a new job 2 months ago which is active. On my feet 9 hours, 6 days and it can get pretty active).  I'm always in sneakers except for dancing.  Since I have carpeting, I've been using "Isotoner" slippers.  They're nice and smooth on the bottom (for turns, etc.), and a bit similar to ballet slippers.

My legs are contantly achy (but I LOVE to dance instead of exercise).  I'm also worried about my knees, I don't want to damage anything.  Also- I just turned 50.  PLEASE- what could you suggest I wear for my feet? The other question- is there anything at the local health store, that might help?  Maybe my leg muscles are having a tough time adjusting to the major increase in activity.

Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much for your time and kind help.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Respectfully,
Susie

Answer
Susie,

For any type of activity proper foot wear is important. I would suggest wearing something that has good arch support and stability. You could be having muscle fatigue from the increased amounts of use. I do not know of anything supplement wise that will benefit you. Make sure that you are warming up and stretching prior to your dancing and see if that helps some.
