Question
Is there any information available or suggestions on beginning an elliptical training program for better than average health male age 63. I don't have a history of exercise and prescriptions are not life threatening or injurious to an exercise regimen.

Answer
Without knowing what other activity you do, it's hard to tailor the workout for you. But here are some general guidelines.

If you havent been doing any exercise, start off around 15 minutes at a level that allows you to be able to do that much without being winded.  Each workout add another minute to your time, until you're doing around 30 - 40 minutes. Once you're able to do that long, gradually begin to increase the intensity of the workout. Depending on the machine you're on, this could be adjusting the resistance or the elevation.  If you're unable to maintain the increased intensity the entire workout, it's fine to alternate between a lower and higher intensity throughout the workout.
Shoot for 3-4 workout per week.

Hope this helps.
