Aerobics/Incline walking

Question
Bonnie
I discovered something amazing and would like your opinion.
I used to jog on my treadmill for long periods on a regular basis, but althoughb it was a good workout it didnt seem to help much with weight loss-combined with a good diet.
The motor on my treadmill burnt out so a friend gave me her manual treadmill.
In ten minutes I was sweating buckets and my heart rate was in the zone! Another surprise was that my body temperature remained elevated and I felt like my normally sluggish metabolism was higher.
I now go for a 30 minute incline walk every day and I am losing weight. The only difference is the treadmill.
Is there something about the workout you get on this type of equipment that gets your metabolism revving?
Thanks for your thoughts!

Answer
Hi Susan,Thank you for your question.
A manual treadmill will give you a better workout than a battery/electric one because you are using more energy to move the belt.
It will burn more calories, speed up your metabolism and cause you to expend more energy.
In my opinion-a manual treadmill is a very good piece of workout equipment.
Good Luck,
Bonnie
