Question
Hey Ken, how are you?
I had a question about cross training workouts. It's a tall order, just a warning. I was looking for a cross training workout that mixes boxing, running, swimming, and weight training. I was hoping for something that will shred my body fat down but keep all of my current muscle (maybe build up some proportional strength) and that is a reasonable time investment (I'm not looking for shortcuts. I'll put in time but I also have other things during the day like everyone else). I have a boxing bag, pool, and free weights at my house. I have some dumbbells, barbells, and a weight bench and a pull-up bar as far as weight stuff goes (so, no squat box, sorry). Basically, I'm aiming for definition, not size. Something I can do everyday for years that will help me look leaner and help in athletic performance. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Mike,

Glad you're motivated to workout.  There are numerous training programs you can do with the equipment you have. There is no one single program I know of on the market that combines boxing, running, swimming and weight training. If you want to do those four activities, you get to mix it up on your own. So check out all of the numerous videos and DVDs on each one, and select the exercises or training regimes that appeal to you.  You may want to consider working with a qualified trainer to set you up initially on a program, then they can help you vary it over time to help meet your goals.  It's worth the investment if you're serious about hitting your objectives that you stated.  (Go to acefitness.org, ideafit.com, or nsca-lift.org to find trainers in your area.)

Hope this helps a bit.
