Question
Hello i am a sophomore in high school and this last week I have been constantly running every day and now it actually hurts to walk and sit, I can barely get up the stairs because my legs are so sore. i am in great shape and have been working out and running all summer but this last week really killed my legs. football is coming up and i am just wondering if it is a good thing to keep running and working out when you are really sore. Also if you will still see results if you workout and run while being sore. if you could answer these questions i would greatly appreciate it.

Answer
Brandon,

Without assessing you it is hard for me to say for sure what is going on. I would recommend that you take a few days off for running to see if the pain gets better. I assume you are stretching and warming up properly, however if not be sure that you are doing so. One thing to be concerned about is over training. If you overtrain you can actually have a set back. Think of it as going up a hill. Training properly means you should have a gradually move forward up the hill, but if you overtrain you slide down the hill and have to start over. Hope this helps.
