Aerobics/Cardiovascular Response

Question
How does the cardiovascular response (for your normal healthy adult) differ when walking on a treadmill verses riding a cycle?

Answer
Your question is rather vague, but I'll answer it the best I can.  It can depend on several factors:
**How fit is the individual
**Does the individual have metabolic problems
**What is the intensity, duration and is the individual pedaling vs. walking
**Is the individual riding a stationary cycle or an outdoor biking
**If outdoor cycling, what are the weather, terrain, bike type, distance, wind resistance, etc.

If you are asking which is better for you, I would say whichever mode you enjoy doing the best and are most likely to stick with.  I believe that crosstraining is always good, because you get a chance to work the muscles in your legs differently;crosstraining also breaks up the monotony of your single mode routine.  I hope this helps you a bit. If you have more detailed questions, feel free to write back!!!!

Good luck in your pursuit of a healthy lifestyle! Take care and happy holidays.
Sincerely, Daphne
