Question
I got a hip injury last November during my work out routine. It's
the outer right hip and the pain goes from my hip down my leg and
wraps around my knee. I have modified my routines greatly and
now am doing Yoga which helps stretch out my whole body. I went
to a Orthopedic in March because the pain was waking me up at
least 20 times a night. He advised that rest was needed and could
take up to a few years to heal. He xrayd and there was no broken
bones. My pain has greatly subsided with the Yoga and is at least
75% better. Now I am hearing a clicking noise every step I take.
I'm only 43! Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thank you!
As long as there is no pain associated with the noise it should not be a concern. Clicking noise is happening do to structural/mechanical changes in your gait. Either a ligament is snapping as you move or synovial fluid in the joint is getting pushed back and forth as you move. The cause of this is likely the subtle changes you have had to make in your walking from your injury.
An orthospedic specialist or physical therapist would be able to determine the exact cause.
