Aerobics/Hula Hoop Workout?

Hi,
I love to do the hula hoop and I'm quite good at it.  Is there any good way to use it in a workout?  Does using a hula hoop tone your abs or do any good at defining muscle?  Thanks!

Hi Erin,
I really can't answer you scientifically but I would imagine it does work your abs somewhat.  The problem is that since you do it often there is no way to overload your muscle groups to make them stronger, therefore your body gets used to the exercise and there isn't a benefit.  I think if you cross train and do other types of workouts, the hula hoop would be great as an adjunct.  Since I don't know your goals or what you are doing besides hula hooping, I really can't give you more of an answer.  My belief is that any activity is good for you so keep it up and do some other fun things as well.
