Question I just read an article about stretching and how its not that important to do it n the beginning of a workout towards the middle, or the end: It said there's no set time, you can do it beginning , middle or towards the end of the workout. Is this true?
Also i've hit a plateau in losing weight, so what should i stick with and how long before i see results again (as in losing weight). I do understand that even though i may not lose weight im still toning my body. But when reaching a plateau in losing weight how long before seeing the scale drop in numbers?
Answer Hi,
Stretching at the beginning may not help prevent injuries or soreness, which is why you've read stretching is not that important. But the article should have asked, "important for what?". Depending on the workout you're doing, it may be beneficial to do some easy stretching in your warm-up. Stretching after you've worked out is probably the best time to stretch, because you are so warm. This is when you can increase your flexibility most effectively. I would definetely recommend stretching at the end of your workouts.
Your weight question is difficult to answer because I need to know your activity history, nutritional history, your current exercise schedule and caloric intake. If you've hit a plateau, you gotta shake it up by doing something different - add more aerobic exercise, cut out another 100 calories a day, do a combination of these things. Get together with a certified personal training and /or a registered dietician if you're serious about getting results. It's worth the investment.
Hope this helps.
