Aerobics/Working out at home

Question
Hi Ken,

I've recently started working out at home to an aerobics show on TV. Problem is I live in a one-bedroom apartment and the only space large enough for the workout is carpeted. I've been told that you shouldn't work out without shoes so what should I wear to prevent injuries AND my carpet (and to avoid rug burn on my feet!)? Do I need to buy a pair of shoes for working out at home and if so, can I go cheap and buy low-cost shoes or do I need to get a pair of good aerobics shoes?

Thank you,

Aubrey

Answer
Hi Aubrey,

Good for you  for exercising at home.   Keep it up.

Don't go cheap, you get what you pay for pretty much when it comes to shoes.  You're worth it, and so are your feet.
Try on a few different pairs to see what fits best and explain you'll be working out on carpet and you don't want to have friction on the bottom of your feet.

Expect to pay at least $40-$50 and up for a decent pair.  Your feet will thankyou.
