Aerobics/cardio

QuestionDear Ms. Erwin,
Hello, I'm 22 years old, 5'5 tall, and I weigh 135. I recently have been excrsing to high-intensity cardio. In one of the cardio moves, they have me lift my knee up as high as possible, then bring it back down to the floor. They do this many times and very rapidly. I noticed that whenever I work this move, my hip pops. It also pops on the other leg as well. I don't believe I am working the move incorrectly. It is not particularly painful, but it doesn't feel nice. I tend to skip over this move to avoid the popping. What do you think it could be? Any suggestions?
Thank You Kindly,
Kristina
AnswerHi Kristina,
First of all, doing movements repeatedly is not good. Pulling your knees up high over and over is not good either. You should only bring your knees up to hip height and not higher and don't do more than 4 at a time. Do other movements, i.e., like hamstring curls instead of knees.
Please modify any movements that don't feel good or safe. I recommend that you speak to the instructor after class and let him/her know that those movements are hurting you.
Good luck
Linda
