Aerobics/exercise and energy

Question
After having glandular fever, I'd like to get back some energy in my life. I've started running, and notice an improvment. What do you suggest in terms of exercise and diet to get energy back? Also can you recommend any good books and sources of information?

I'd like to get some aerobics dvds to do at home, but past experience has been at times that many aren't challenging enough. I'm 29 and reasonably fit. I tried "aerobics oz style" much much too easy. I have a one hour Denise Austin video - old, corny and I'm not sure if it's up to date now. Any suggestions on good ones?

Answer
Hi Paul,
Check it out with your Dr. before restarting a fitness program to make sure you don't relapse.  There are great videos out there so I'm providing a link for you to check out.  It's important to eat healthy so cut out the simple carbs and eat whole grains, low fat proteins, and plenty of fruits and vegetables.  Don't forget foods/products that have calcium and nuts.  Keep your fiber content high as well.  It's also important to take a multivitamin to make sure you get all your nutrients.  That should get your energy level back up.  Getting enough water and sleep/rest is also important.

There are great books on health.  Visit Amazon.com and look through that section on health.  Since I don't know what exactly you are looking for, it will be good for you to pick and choose your topics.  Listen to your body and when it says it's tired, take a break.  You don't want to overdo it or else you will relapse.

Take care and good luck,
Linda
