Question
Hi. I'm a long-time moderate (1-4x/week) exerciser. I've done classes, machines (elliptical, recumbent, treadmill) and both nautilus and free weights. I currently belong to a gym with no classes available. I'd like to map out a program of free weight training and aerobics to get back on track. i've gained 20 lbs and two sizes, so i'd like to get back to my normal weight and pants size.

i'm specifically looking for a good reco on home video workouts. i've never used them before. a 30-min. tape to start would be ideal. little or no equip also helpful (i live in a small NYC apt.! and don't have the romm)If I have to, i'll invest in one of those balls if you think it makes a big diff. I also have a set of 2 lb. and 5 lb. weights at home.

I figure i'll try to do the video 2x a week, get to the gym to use the treadmill or bike 1 or 2x a week, and do 1 or 2x week free weights and/or nautilus (gym has very basic equipment). i do already have a pretty good weight training program for myself.

Any video recommendations would be awesome. Thank you so much in advance for any insight, Ken. I was impressed with your background and it sounded like a perfect match for my question.

cheers,
Carol

Answer
Hi Carol,

Glad you're motivated to get active again.  Recommend a video, huh?   Where do I start?!  There are hundreds of titles available, and I haven't seen them all thats for sure.

Personally, the ones I would recommend are the ones our company carries.  They are very good videos which is why we stock them.  You can review them at:  www.aerobeat.com, then click the Videos link.  Specifically, the 3 "Fit Over 50" videos and the "Broadway Blast-Off" video are all around 30 minutes each.

You may also want to check your local library to see if they rent any videos for you to try out at home.

Hope this helps.  Happy new year.
