Todd. first of all this is not a "row machine" it gives resistance in both direction as well as putting the muscles through 80 percent of their range of motion which none of the other machines you listed do.

I don't think that you can say that 4 minutes cannot replace 30-60 minutes of cardio exercise is a FACT. because the ROM is proving people wrong daily. it is expensive and it is worth it. you should try to get out of your " this how we've always done it" mentality and give the ROM the credit it deserves. there is NOTHING like it.

It would not suprise me if some people praising the ROM are ones who sell it. Use common knowledge. It can be compared to those ab crunchers, "by using this ab cruncher, you are doing over 3000 crunches in as littles as 5 minutes..." this is a load. For those of you who have $14,000 to just spend on an exercise machine, buy it. For those of us like me who work for every dollar, THERE IS NO POINT IN BUYING THIS MACHINE AT ALL.

I've been using it for over a year now at a gym dedicated to this machine (they have about 15). First of all: no pain, no gain. Try aiming for 5 or 6 minutes (I never do 4) on the hardest resistance setting and then improving your own score every week. Still energy left: just work out harder! The display will tell you how much better you performed compared to last time. Just go all out, you should be completely out of breath, especially after the lower body workout.

So, it's up to you to exhaust yourself in a relatively short time and walk away with trembling hands and (sometimes) legs. I found my hands were becoming the weak spot because of the heavy pulling. However, only during the first two weeks I felt some muscle ache afterwards.

As a martial artist, I can recommend it as supplementary training, together with running and plyometric exercises. A lot of coordination is required for the two exercises and requires more skill than you'd expect initially. Also, the machine allows for a lot of variation in doing the exercises.

One advice: be careful and don't pull too hard with your lower back, especially in the beginning.

BEWARE: ROM machine has been proved a SCAM, people is ripped off, stories about people buying it and don't getting their money back, when they try to sell it second hand don't get offers of more than US$500, that is a loss of US$14,000.00, so, be aware that is a SCAM and these people have a team of lawyers that will fight the small letters in the contract that protect them, its your money but don't feed the con artists.
