Aerobics/hamstring stretching while standing

Question
Hi Kim

I would like to know when stretching the hamstring while standing ie touching your toes with the feet open, do you bend the knee slightly or straight(lock), however I feel that if you bend the knee slightly, you're sort of cheating.

Thank you

Sincerely

James

Answer
Hello-
You should definitely not 'lock' your knees when you are standing and touching your toes.  In fact you should not lock out any joint when you are stretching, lifting or exercising.  You are not cheating if you keep your knees soft (slightly bent), you are still stretching the muscle.  Notice that your knees are only slightly bent, not fully bent.

Hope this helps.

Thanks
Kim
