Question
Hi Daphne:

dumb question, but I am just wondering that if too much sex is bad for sports performance? And is it scientifically proved? I am serious here.
I am doing gymnastics and as you know, it is a very intense sports. some eastern philosophy teaches you that sex draws stamina away and sometimes I "feel" so cos it does make me sleepy. So does it really wire my stamina away if I do it too often?

Thanks for you time

Answer
It's really funny that you asked this question.  I heard an interview on the radio the other day with a very famous Olympic sprinter who was asked the same question.  He said that his coach strongly objected to him having sex with his wife before his competitions.  The sprinter, however, felt it made him compete better the next day.

I am not an expert in how sex affects sports performance, however I found a few articles that seem credible and may help you to determine what is right for you.
