QuestionDear Paul
I'm 21, and completed my(3 year) diploma course in aeronautical engineering;mech option last year. since then i have been posting my resume to different companies in the USA for their job posting but i have never achive anything inspite of me having the required experience.
I will like to ask whether my kenyan diploma does not count or whether i won't be able to work in the US with a kenyan Diploma
Thanks
AnswerVinnie
I assume in this job market companies are inundated with resumes from people looking for work. The competition is fierce and you have several disadvantages:
1. If you are in Kenya, it would be difficult to have a face-to-face interview, which is a common requirement. No one would ask you to travel to America for an interview.
2. Many aerospace companies prefer American citizens because of the need for secret clearance on certain government projects. This is not true of non-aerospace companies who don't have government contracts.
3. Your English composition is not equal to a native American as I can tell from your spelling and grammar. Companies want people with excellent communication skills.
4. Your Kenyan diploma is an unknown quantity in this country. Few people would know the quality of your school.
5. It is difficult to get a long-term visa.
6. Many people applying for engineering jobs have graduate degrees.
Sorry, but I believe you need to find another path to a career.
