Question
I wanted to ask you some important questions regarding my future studies in university, which I will be starting from September 2009. Since I am planning to study aerospace engineering, I was wondering which kind of aerospace engineering you think I should study. Is it either:
a) An aerospace engineering program that covers all aspects of this particular field ranging from vehicle design to computer programming, or
b) An aerospace engineering program that enables one to study only one of the four aspects of this field:

•Aerodynamics, Propulsion and Vehicle Performance;
•Aerospace Structures, Systems and Vehicle Design;
•Aerospace Electronics and Systems; or
•Space Systems Design

I am  particularly interested in taking up Aerospace Electronics and Systems. In terms of job opportunities, I would like to know which one is better. Please let me know.

Thanks,

Aditya

Answer
You should study the subjects of most interest to you.  That will give you the most satisfaction and best chance for success in a career.  Imagine trying to get a job in an area that was not of interest to you.  I know several people who have tried that and it does not work out well.
