Aeronautical Engineering - question for my orientation

Expert: Paul Soderman - 10/16/2009

Question
I am a young engineering students from 17 years in second year at Polytechnic Cameroon intending to study in aeronautics. But in my school there are no department of aeronautics and so I wonder if I can get in for specialization in mechanics that after my degree of engineers to specialize in the field of aeronautics , for perhaps after having a degree of igenieur. Being an aeronautical engineer is a dream which came with my recent passion for aeronautics.

Answer
Many engineers work as Aerospace Engineers after studying Mechanical Engineering.  In that field they take courses like fluid mechanics and propulsion that allow them to work in aeronautics.  They sometimes have to pick up aerodynamics on their own or work in various disciplines like design which is applicable to Mechanical Engineering.  Good luck.
