Aeronautical Engineering/australian careers

Question
Dear Paul,
I was just wondering whether there is a chance for mechanical engineering students to enter the aeronautical industry in terms of design or ANYTHING to do with an aircraft. If yes, what are the sort of tasks/areas in the industry will I be eligible for? I was a former first year student studying for a BA in aeronautics until I had to make a decisive change to a relatively easier course due to prolonged ill health.
Thanks

Answer
Yes, I had many friends at NASA who studied mechanical engineering and worked in aeronautics.  The fields are very similar but the ME should extend his fluid mechanic knowledge to include aerodynamics.  Otherwise, the study areas are similar.

Of course, many aerospace jobs do not require aerodynamics.  For job descriptions and opportunities you can visit the websites of many aerospace companies.
