Question Hi. I have a 13yrs going on 14yrs (July 09) old son who has been very much interested in being an Aeronautic Engineer since when he was 8yrs old and still is. He will be in the 10th grade come August 09.
We are therefore now looking for a place for him to volunteer in the Aeronautic Engineering field.
Do you know where we can accomplish this dream please?
Answer I am not sure what you mean by volunteer. I have heard of flying clubs, but have no experience with that. A tried and true way to get into Aeronautical Engineering is to study as much math and science as possible in school and apply to an engineering school after high school. Reading and studying about aircraft would be helpful, but it is the academic route that must be negotiated.
Once in a university program or even junior college, it is often possible to get an internship at an aerospace company or research lab to learn more about professional opportunities. But that is not required. What is required is that B.S. degree or higher to land a good job.
