Expert: Paul Soderman - 3/6/2011
QuestionHello sir,
Hats off for the questions you answered and the way you dealt with them. Now i got little bit idea to trigger my question to you.
By the way, i am doing my 3rd year Bachelors degree (Aeronautical Engg in chennai),India. And i am having an aggregate of 78%.And now i don't want to get into jobs rather i would like to pursue my higher studies either in U.S. or U.k etc. From your answers i felt that your are well-experienced in U.S. So i would like to know about the Requirements and various things that are needed to get into the university. I literally know that it,each university requirements varies among themselves. Now i would like to pursue MSA(Master of Science in Aeronautics). Provide some valid and updated details to me regarding that.
My Questions :
1)What is the best and top ranked university to pursue MSA in U.S. ? (My guess are ERAU & MIT)
2)What are the GRE scores to be needed for the candidate to pursue his MSA in the TOP RANKED UNIVERSITY in U.S.?(i know it differs from each university, but just let me know what is the highest core needed for the candidate to get in to the Top university in U.S. for MSA)
3)The average cost or expenses ? (please include Tuition fee and every other expense,And u don't need to be specific for a university just say how much it would cost for the course and expenses. Answer this generally.)
4)What are requirements for the citizenship in U.S. ? If i have it,i would get a job easily over-there in this field i hope.(correct me,if i am wrong)
5)Last but not the least the Job oppurtunities and the campus recruitments available for university.
Thank you for your answers in advance. And please give me updated answers for my questions.
Finally i know your awesome. Thank you sir for viewing it

Your questions are extensive - I am an engineer, not a school or job counselor. But I can tell you where to get answers. First, here is one opinion as to the best engineering schools in the U.S.:

My list would be slightly different, but we all have different experiences. As for entrance requirements and costs, you need to visit school websites as the information is quite extensive and I am not familiar with the details. I recommend the information at U. of Washington - Seattle as they give a breakdown of school and living costs along with the academic requirements for foreign students (
http://www.washington.edu/). Be sure to visit the link to your potential department - Aeronautics and Astronautics. Each department may have unique requirements. There are also links to financial aid programs though financial aid is a big problem for all students in this country. Education is secondary to our military adventures abroad. For citizenship requirements, you need to seek information from government sources, I assume the State Department. As I recall, citizenship takes something like seven years of legal residency before it can be obtained. Before that, most legal foreign nationals have green cards (temporary residency). Job requirements - check aerospace company websites (e.g., Boeing Co.) to see the current job opportunities and requirements. Good luck.
