Question
Hello Mr. Soderman,
My name is Ryan. I'm a sophomore in high school and I am doing a project on Aeronautical Engineering. I would like some information about the job such as a job description, average salary per year and hourly, education requirements, etc. Just about anything will help me.

Thank You.
 Ryan

Answer
Aeronautical Engineers usually work in research, testing and development of aerospace products such as flight vehicles of all types, automobiles, robotic devices, and so on.  Job descriptions vary greatly depending on company requirements.  Check Boeing Co. website for typical job descriptions. All engineers must have a B.S. degree from an engineering school.  Graduate work is a plus.  Starting salaries depend on many things such as job experience, location, company, academic record, etc..  I would guess that an engineer with a good record fresh out of school could expect to start at $60,000 plus or minus $10,000.  But I have been retired for some time.  More accurate data can be found by googling starting engineer salaries.
