Aeronautical Engineering/Fuel stations for Commercial airplanes.

Dear Rajeev

Do fuel stations are available to the commercial airplanes at the airports facility where airplanes do take off and landing ?.

Are there special planes for the same to do this refueling which has the storage facility ?.

It will be very rare that the fuel stations at the airports can exhaust for filling fuel for the airplanes ?.

Thanks & Regards,
Prashant S Akerkar

large fuel storage bunkers are available near airport premesis, and they are generally under ground, for fire safety reasons.

They are carried to aircrafts for fuelling by bowsers ( Lorrie's with fuel storage tanks on them). They fill fuel onto aircraft fuel tanks through pressurized pipelines for quick refuelling.

Recently, mid air refueling is also carried out, but it's expensive, and used by advanced military planes only during wars/ emergency relief work  only.

Finally, fuel stations running out of stocks at airports are very rare occurrence.

Hope you are satisfied with my reply.
