Question
sir, In gas turbine engines why we are give initial start(rotation) to turbine by means of battery.why dont we give intial start to compresser any reason behind this?

Answer
Hi,

In GT engines, initial starting is done through 3 different methods.

1.using Jet Fuel Starter.
2.using compressed air & battery ignition
3.Pyro start for small GT engines

To answer your question on Turbine being energized, it's because the turbine works on expansion of gases rather & requires less power to rotate, than Compressor (which against laws of nature), Hence, Compressed fuel air mixture is directly injected & ignited by battery. However, in large engines, Jet fuel starters are used (which are mini GT)

Hope it answers your Query.
