Question
QUESTION: Dear Jan

Do Helicopter have Headlights?
Front, Back,Top,Bottom?
If yes, where are they fixed?

Thanks & Regards,
Prashant S Akerkar

ANSWER: Helicopters do not ordinarily have landing lights like fixed wing aircraft.

Fixed wing aircraft have permanently mounted and adjusted landing lights because they are free of vibration and stable in pitch attitude for their landing configuration.

Helicopters are not stable, nor do they have a predictable flight path for landing. While a helicopter may have some lighting available, they generally depend on ground lights to illuminate their landing area.

QUESTION: Dear Jan

Thanks.

Is it possible to design and construct Front,Back,Top and Bottom Fixed lights through innovative engineering designing practices in a Helicopter?

Thanks
Prashant

Answer
Yes, it could be done.
For example some air ambulance helicopters have extra lighting to increase safety and assist medical crews loading patients. However, helicopters are even more weight conscience than airplanes and "extra" items are rarely added to the air-frame.
