Aeronautical Engineering/AE in US requirements

Question
Hello,
I am getting out of the Marine Corps next years after 5 years,5 years that I have been out of high school.  I am very interested in all this aeronautical and especially on the design/engineering side.  I messed around alot in high school, so my maths were not good at all. Now though I study and would get a good SAT score.  Are colleges more likely to take into account my SAT score over any high school record since I've been out of school for 5 years now?

I suggest finding a good junior college and taking as much math and science as possible.  In California, it is fairly easy to transfer to a University from a JC if you have the necessary credits, and I believe the SAT is not required in that case.  Check with a local JC.  As for going directly to an upper division college with your record, you would have to talk to an Admissions office to get the right answer.  If you go to an engineering school, you will want to brush up on math to be competitive.  Good luck.  Aeronautics is a good field.  I worked with several ex-marines at NASA.
