Answer
Hi Suraj

There is opportunity for aeronautical engineers in India, as you do have an indigenous aerospace industry. There's also ISRO, of course, on the space side. I have no knowledge of whether they are recruiting, or what their requirements are, I'm afraid. A search of the web might tell you.

Regarding whether it's a good career, again I can't say whether the salaries are good in India. I know in the UK they are reasonable, but not as high as many jobs in finance, for instance. Also the industry is very much 'boom and bust' - there are periods of strong growth and periods of redundancies. I have never lost my job, but have seen two rounds of redundancy when I was in industry (and again in my 14 years in academia). However, if you want a job where you can make a difference to people's lives, and gain real satisfaction from looking at a succesful product and saying, 'I did some of that', then it's the best job in the world (almost ;-)).

Ray
