Aeronautical Engineering/Careers in aeroacoustics

Question
Dear Paul,

I have recently completed a PhD in aeroacoustics and am trying to figure out what to do next. Having spent the last 10 years studying, I am quite keen to leave academia (at least for a while) but there seem to be preciously few career opportunities in industry requiring aeroacoustics and/or fluid mechanics. Any ideas of where to look?

Very grateful for suggestions,
Linda

Answer
Hi Linda - As I am retired, I am not up on current job  opportunities.  Historically, the best aeroacoustic jobs were at Boeing, NASA Langley and NASA Glen.  Fluid mechanics may be more in demand at those places as well at smaller companies marketing flow control systems.  SkyVenures, for example, make small wind tunnels.  The military market must be hot right now, but I am not sure where.

Good luck.

Paul

Thanks.
