Question
·What engine on a jet engine is critical? On a 4-engine

Answer
Maurice

All engines are important, but a 4-engine aircraft can fly on three engines in an emergency.  Assuming two on each wing, I would rather lose an inboard than an outboard engine because the yawing moment would be less than if I lost an outboard engine.

You might be able to limp home with two out, one on each wing, but if two engines on one wing go out, you are done -  fini.

I hope this answers your question.
