Follow-Ups to Answer from Expert Mark Janus

A 2008 Cessna 172 is NOT a 1970's Cessna 172. A comparison will show the 70's model has less hp and lower performance than the 2008 model. An aircraft model changes as time goes on, just like automobiles (usually improving). An engine at TBO (usually 1200 to 1400 hrs) will only make 75% to 85% of the "new" horsepower rating. An old man will remember how he used to run, and no longer can, an aged body does not mean a tired mind.
