Subject: Papal flight aircraft

Question
Just curious.
Is it really possible to have flags mounted to the nose of a Boeing 777 with a cruising speed of about 500+ knots land after a transatlantic fight with the flags still intact and visa versa?

Answer
I didn't see the Pope's aircraft on TV but I assume you mean actual cloth flags.  Those would not survive a transatlantic flight let alone a take-off in a 777.  I would bet that as soon as they landed, someone opened the cockpit windows and mounted the flags before the aircraft was on camera.  Unfortunately I don't have any more information.
