Question
My stepson is talking to people at Aviation Institute of Mechanics in Lawrenceville, GA. I am wondering if you are familiar with this school and how you would rate it. Thank you for your time and expertise.

Answer
Sorry I don't know much about that school. However I will say that as an old vintage A&P mechanic as well as a instructor I can only suggest that you look into their curriculum to see if they include hands on instruction that involves practical work. While in todays labor market that uses more specialist, learning all the skills will come in handy should things change. In my day an A&P was a jack of all trades. If you look at FAA AC43-13-1&2 you see that a true mechanic needs to be proficient in many area like woodworking, sheetmetal and so on. These skills can always later be applied to other work areas even put to use in the home. Even to day as a retired person I use my skills as an A&P to maintain my cars, boat, lawnmower. Built an aluminum shed and others things using these skills. If one likes to use his hands and mind to earn a living, a good A&P course will never go to waste. Hope I have given you some insight in responding to her answer.
